The Health and Safety aspects of the training programmes have been developed in accordance with the Skills Development Act, against a South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) registered unit standard.
Only a facilitator who has been properly trained, and is competent in the presentation of these courses, with regards content and methodology should present this training. CPME can provide facilitators for the Health and Safety Aspects of Training.
Who is the training programme for?
This training programme is designed for both novice and experienced learners who may be expected to Conduct Health and Safety Activities at a Workplace while performing their daily duties.
It also makes good business sense that employees who are expected to supervise these related activities should know what the correct procedures are so that they are competent to identify good, bad, safe or unsafe practices during their supervision day / shift.
A learner accredited with these unit standards will be able to perform safety, health and environmental activities. He/she will also know the health and safety legislation relevant to the function, duties and responsibilities of a workplace.
THE LEARNERS’ ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment will be done to specified standards in line with the unit standard for assessment “Conduct Outcomes Based Assessment”, by a registered assessor and certificates will be issued to learners who demonstrate competence to the required standard.
Throughout the training it is essential that the practical skills be assessed to ensure that the learners are achieving the outcomes.
Much of the practical aspects of the course should comprise exercises, which are based on the type of task expected of the learner after training.
The training programme modules conclude with an activity which allows the learners to familiarise themselves with, and practice the skills associated with the Learner Outcomes of the Module.
These activities will be assessed (Formative Assessments) by the Facilitator, permitting them to evaluate the progress of the learners before proceeding with the following Modules.
Learners will be assessed objectively, and all results and remarks recorded.
This method of assessment will allow remedial action to be taken when appropriate. It also provides the learner with feedback of his or her performance.
